We have created our very own signature cuisine: cocina mestiza. It’s our tribute to Ecuadorian traditional food with a contemporary twist. Heimweh kenne ich nicht. Nur Fernweh! Schon als Jugendliche wollte ich die weite Welt sehen. Mein Highschool-Jahr und schließlich meine Zeit als Au-Pair in den USA haben mich angefixt. Danach zog es mich südlicher, nach Ecuador zu einem Sprachkurs. Und wie das Leben so spielt, fand ich dort einen Praktikumsplatz bei einem lokalen Reiseveranstalter. So wurde dieses immergrüne Land lange Zeit meine zweite Heimat. Die südamerikanische Leichtigkeit, die Fröhlichkeit der Menschen, der lebensfrohe Rhythmus von Salsa-Musik sowie die Vielfalt der Natur, insbesondere des Dschungels und der Galapagos-Inseln, haben mich für immer eingenommen. Davon und von vielen weiteren intensiven Reisen in die nördlichen Regionen Lateinamerikas zehre und profitiere ich noch heute und freue mich, Ihnen bei der Planung Ihrer Reise in die Andenstaaten behilflich sein zu können.

Luxury Plus Double for Two (PPAY2)
The Luxury Plus room occupies the end of the southwestern wing of the property. Striking neoclassical columns rise around the room, topped with ornate stuccowork, which interrupts the floral Art Nouveau frieze that runs around the cornicing.

Junior Suite Double for Two (JSAY2)
The Junior Suite is one of the largest and most special rooms in the mansion. This room used to be the “tea room” of the Gangotena family, where the family’s women and friends would gather. Situated on the first floor, the spacious Junior Suite features an original, 360-degree restored mural depicting a hunting scene. The Junior Suite overlooks the garden and the Panecillo hillside.

Balcony Junior Suite Double for Two (BSAY2)
Located on the first floor, at the end of the southwestern wing of the property, the Balcony Junior Suite is undeniably romantic. The room has its own balcony that overlooks the garden and offers picturesque views of the Virgin of Quito atop her hill. Neoclassical stucco columns adorn the room. The delightful bathroom features two large windows that draw in the Andean light, while beautiful columns and black-and-white veined marble complete the picture.

Dining Experiences at Casa Gangotena
Inspired by the biodiversity of Ecuador’s ingredients and developed together with our trusted suppliers and farmers, we have created our very own signature cuisine: cocina mestiza. Based on ongoing research into flavors, scents, textures, and ancestral cooking techniques, it’s our tribute to Ecuadorian traditional food. We have adapted our restaurant’s service to ensure the highest safety standards and peace of mind for all.
A den for sophisticated travelers, our bar invites you to relax amid its leather chairs, comfortable banquettes, wood paneling and oil paintings: the ideal spot to indulge in an Old Fashioned or one of the sophisticated specialty cocktails prepared by our bar staff.
We breathed new life into the classic Quiteño equivalent to British “High Tea,” served at the tables or sofas of our orchid- and flower-filled patio. We offer a selection of premium Ecuadorian coffees, infusions made with herbs and flowers (some of which are fresh from the garden), as well as exquisite pastries and sandwiches.
What would the weekend be without a deliciously late breakfast spilling over into lunch?
Our brunch is a festival of North American, European, and Ecuadorian traditional food to be enjoyed leisurely, with friends or family.
